New Zealand

• Your own Parking Permit will not be recognised for parking, but it can be used to obtain a temporary one from CCS Disability Action on arrival in New Zealand

Australia

Whether or not your Parking Permit will be recognised depends on where you are from:

• Are you from another Australian state or territory? If so, all of them will recognise your Parking Permit
  
  
• Are you from another country? If so:
  
  
  • Your own Parking Permit will be recognised in Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, Northern Territory, Queensland, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia
    
    
  • When you park in these states or territories, display next to your Parking Permit the print-out notice to explain to police and parking officials your right to park, and where they may find more information
    
    
  • Your own Parking Permit will not be recognised for parking in South Australia, but it can be used to obtain a temporary one

Note – The Australian Government launched an Australian Disability Parking Permit that is recognised in all its States and Territories. The national permit will also make it easier for enforcement officers to recognise permits and remove inconvenience for motorists travelling interstate. These changes will not, however, affect disabled visitors from abroad. 

What you should always do:

• Check the parking signs and ask locally in case there are local variations that we are not aware of (eg some state capital cities have a special Parking Permit for people who work in a Central Activity District (CAD) or elsewhere in the municipality)
