United States of AmericaWelcome to the USA section of the FIA Guide for the disabled traveller. Read this page, and then click on the country you intend to visit
Whether or not your Parking Permit (usually referred to as a Placard in the USA) will be recognised depends on where you are from:
Are you from another USA state? If so, almost all USA states will recognise your Parking Placard.
Are you from another country? If so, some USA states will recognise your Parking Permit but others may not. This is explained under the heading "Where you may use your Parking Permit".
"You may use your Parking Permit in" means that reciprocity has been confirmed by a state official, or from our review of state legislation.
"We currently have no information whether or not you may use your Parking Permit in" means we have been unable to get information on reciprocity - you should ask locally before you park.
"You may not use your Parking Permit in " – means we have been informed that it will not be recognised and you are not eligible to the parking concessions shown in the Guide
What you should always do:
Always - ask locally, park sensibly and safely, obey the rules, enjoy your visit!
Footnote: We have made every effort to ensure the information in the Guide is correct but cannot be held responsible for errors or omissions. You must always check the parking signs and ask locally if your Parking Permit / Placard will be recognised. Only take advantage of parking concessions when you are completely satisfied it will be recognised. |
