Parking spaces
Those reserved for a Parking Permit holder are marked with the wheelchair symbol.
Do not park if the space is marked with someone's name or a licence plate number.
Do not park on the striped area adjacent to a disabled person parking space – it is there to allow a wheelchair user access to and from the vehicle.
Where you may use your Parking Permit
DC Parking Permit holder
You may use your Parking Permit in most states of the USA, and in many other countries around the world.
Look at the entry for the state or the country you intend visiting to see if your Parking Permit can be used.
Visitor to DC
Visitor from another USA state – you may use your Parking Permit in DC.
Visitor from abroad – we are currently unable to say whether or not your Parking Permit can be used in DC – ask locally if you are entitled to the parking concessions shown opposite. |

Parking on roads
You may park in a parking space marked with the international wheelchair symbol.
You may park at a parking meter free-of-charge for double the maximum time allowed after which you must pay to park and not exceed the paid-for time.
You may park on a road where parking is restricted by time for twice the maximum time allowed.
Parking in car parks
You may park in a parking space marked with the international wheelchair symbol.
We currently have no information on parking concessions – check the car park notices or ask locally.
Private parking facilities, such as airport parking lots, may restrict the time and parking for vehicles displaying disability parking placards – check the parking lot notices or ask an attendant. |
